Lately I've had food on my mind, specifically 2 kinds.  Alaskan king crab legs and beef jerky.  And only 1 place to find the best of those, America.  Now if only a trip to the good ol' US of A could materialize!

The World Cup is over.  Spain Win.  And I did not see one second of it.  The first World Cup final I do not watch.
Three cheers for Solar Impulse, the Swiss enterprise whose eponimously-named solar-powered aircraft has just completed a non-stop 24-hour flight.
Flying through the night using solar power.  Now that's something.
This news has been the highlight of my day.

Here's to the day (I hope) when the Middle East's energy needs are fulfilled by solar power and solar power alone.  We have enough of it so why not.

Today marks 14 years since my arrival in Qatar. 
6 July 1996 was a Saturday.

Within 24 hours, 2 people that I have interviewed in the past have died.  Both were controversial in their time, to say the least, and both left an indelible mark on the modern history of the Arab world.
I am speaking of Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah and Muammad Daoud Odeh, better known as Abu Daoud.
Fadlallah appeared in my War of Lebanon documentary, Abu Daoud in the A Tale of Revolution "Hekayat Thawra" documentary.
The number of the deceased in my contacts grows bigger and bigger.
